Overview

The Taproom Manager at Devil’s Club Brewing Company is responsible for leading daily, front-of-house Taproom operations, organizing and executing events, increasing Taproom efficiencies and profitability, and hiring and motivating high-performing front-of-house staff who provide an excellent, memorable guest experience while upholding adherence to health and safety standards. This is a full-time, salary-based position that requires a flexible schedule.  

Compensation

Up to $75,000 annually + estimated $21,300 in benefit value

Responsibilities 

Leadership

  • Hiring and scheduling front-of-house employees to ensure excellent customer experience while maintaining efficient operations 

  • Managing unforeseen schedule changes and covering shifts of front-of-house employees to ensure proper daily staffing

  • Overseeing the training of new front-of-house staff to become effective and critical team members

  • Organizing the education of front-of-house staff on the company’s products and processes to enhance customer experience 

  • Managing the performance, promotion and expansion of responsibilities of front-of-house staff to drive retention and fulfillment in the workplace 

  • Holding front-of-house staff accountable for completion of daily tasks and operational expectations

  • Upholding the policies and standards outlined in the Employee Handbook to ensure adherence to company standards and maintain a healthy workplace

  • Being available at all hours of business to manage issues and labor needs that arise in the Taproom

  • Working closely with and helping the Kitchen Manager with their duties when possible to foster a healthy team environment

  • Executing the Kitchen Manager and Business Manager’s responsibilities with their help and guidance when they are on leave or otherwise unavailable

Operations

  • Driving the continued development of better practices throughout the Taproom to increase efficiency and promote better profitability

  • Upholding the highest standards of appearance and presentation of products in the Taproom 

  • Maintaining organization and cleanliness of the Taproom to ensure a premium guest experience and comfortable workspace for staff

  • Efficiently removing waste and recycling from the Taproom to maintain a tidy operation 

  • Maintaining adequate stock of all Taproom supplies and consumables to ensure seamless operations 

  • Ensuring adherence to company cleanliness and organization standards by overseeing cleaning schedules and holding staff accountable 

  • Maintaining draft systems with routine cleaning and maintenance

  • Conducting routine maintenance of front-of-house Taproom equipment and coordinating professional maintenance when required to ensure continued operations 

  • Upholding health and safety standards in the Taproom in adherence with local and state regulations 

Sales/Inventory

  • Leading the coordination of prompt, timely beer releases with Brewery and Marketing

  • Organizing back stock of products and communicating beer stock needs to Brewery to ensure first-in-first-out beer and smooth turnover of all inventory 

  • Tracking beer and merchandise inventory and coordinating ordering of merchandise to ensure full stock, and seamless availability of products in the Taproom 

  • Managing both online and physical point of sale system(s) including prices, inventory, product information, imagery, etc., to create efficient and accurate operations while ensuring professional customer-facing information

  • Promptly packaging and fulfilling the shipment of retail orders to ensure customer satisfaction 

  • Managing cash including daily and weekly deposits and change to ensure accurate monthly cash deposits

Events

  • Corresponding with, booking and facilitating rentals ensuring a premium guest experience 

  • Coordinating with, booking and facilitating monthly First Friday shows to increase community engagement

  • Managing the execution of live performances on the premises, including booking artists, working with Marketing to promote events, contracting technical professionals, and overseeing day-of-event execution

Requirements

  • Prior management experience

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as determined by the needs of the operation

  • Ability to handle fast-paced, dynamic work environment

  • Ability to lift, push and pull 50 lbs without assistance

  • Ability to push, pull and move full kegs (~160lbs) without assistance

  • 21+ years of age

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Cicerone Level 1 - Certified Beer Server Certification or ability to acquire within 60 days of employment

  • Current TAPS and Alaska Food Worker Cards or ability to acquire within 30 days of employment  

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership or management role, preferably in a brewery, bar, or restaurant

  • Strong knowledge of craft beer styles, brewing processes, and the local craft beer scene or eagerness to learn

  • Experience managing a high-volume hospitality environment

Full-Time, Salaried Benefits value estimated at $11,900 - $21,300+ per year

Pay: $65,000 - $75,000 per year depending on experience
